  Prayer for Church Unity

God our Father, it is your purpose to bring the whole of creation into unity with you. Give us the grace to further this aim, and to live out your truth on earth. Bring all your people closer to one another, and unite us in the sharing of your good news. Come, Holy Spirit, and help us become one community of believers.      Amen

Cardinal Maida Approves Merger
Back on March 5th Cardinal Maida, in consultation with the Archdiocese of Detroit Presbyteral Council, approved the merger plan that we submitted to the Blue Water Vicariate to become “one (new) parish with two worship sites and a mission”. Since then we have been working on three important tasks: 1). I have been working with staff members to develop updated job descriptions; 2). Parishioners have been submitting names for the new parish; 3). The parish council and the various commissions have been coming together to realign and set a vision for the future. All this on top of the normal Lenten activities and the Distinguished Speaker Series!

Name Submissions for the New Parish, Part II
Here are the most recent ideas submitted by you to be considered for our new parish:

Our Lady of Perpetual Help
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
Holy Family Parish
Holy Trinity Parish
Blessed Trinity Parish
Trinity on the Lake
Holy Spirit/Sanctus Spiritus
St. Cecilia
Cuerpo de Christo/Body of Christ
Holy Family and Saints of God/Santa Familia y Santos de Dios

Please remember that the name of a parish must be found in the scriptures or in a traditional litany of saints. To see complete list of names as well as explanations provided by our parishioners as to why they think it would be a good name for the new parish visit our web site.

First Aid and CPR Training
Maureen Duncan, RN, the Parish Nurse/Health Ministry Coordinator from St. John Health System will be coming to the McCormick Gymnasium on Saturday, March 31 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm to offer First-Aid and CPR training. I would like to strongly encourage anyone involved in a parish ministry to attend (Ushers, Eucharistic Ministers, etc.). In fact, I so strongly believe that it is important that we know how to deal with medical emergencies here at church that the parish will pay the small fee for any parishioner willing to attend. As space is limited to 30, please call ASAP to sign-up.

Bind us together, O Lord!

Fr. Brian
